EV Partners overlay is a browser add-on for the Shop-Ware shop management system, run by Travis Decker of Atomic Auto in Portland, Oregon, for independent repair shops that take part in its test program. This page says what the overlay reads, what it stores and whom it shares it with.
Who uses it
Only staff of a participating shop can use the overlay. They sign in with the Google Workspace account of their shop. We read the email address and name from that account and nothing else from Google. We never see a password.
What the overlay reads
When a signed-in person opens a repair order in Shop-Ware, the overlay reads that repair order from the shop's own Shop-Ware account, using the shop's own Shop-Ware credentials: the vehicle, the odometer, the customer's stated concern, the notes, the labor and parts lines, and the attachments the person picks. It reads only the repair order on screen, only when the person uses a widget.
What goes to an AI model
Some widgets ask an AI model to draft text (an explanation of pending work, an after-visit summary, a research answer, a reading of a scan report). The server builds those requests itself and withholds the vehicle's full VIN, the plate, the customer's last name, phone numbers and email addresses. A photo or PDF the person chooses to send is sent as it is. Models are reached through Vercel's AI Gateway and Perplexity; each provider receives only the request and never the shop's Shop-Ware credentials.
What the overlay stores
- The signed-in person's email and name, the shop they belong to, a hashed sign-in token, and their widget settings.
- A log of every write the overlay makes to Shop-Ware (a note or a recommendation on a repair order), with who made it and when.
- Research questions and answers, and the model usage and cost of each call, per shop.
- Share pages a person creates for a customer (a plain-language explanation or summary). They hold the vehicle description and the drafted text, not the customer's name, and they expire after 30 days.
- When a Tesla owner connects their car through a link the shop sends, the Tesla access tokens, encrypted, and the last readout from the car. The owner can revoke access at any time in the Tesla app, and shop staff can disconnect it from the overlay.
- Maintenance checks read the vehicle's service history from Carfax through a connection that belongs to AdvisoRx, a company Travis Decker owns.
Data lives in a hosted Postgres database (Neon) and the app runs on Vercel, both in the United States.
What we do not do
We do not sell data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not send marketing. We do not read anything from Google other than the sign-in email and name. We do not send Tesla any command other than waking a sleeping car, and only when a person clicks that button.
Your choices
Shop staff can turn each widget off in Settings. A shop can leave the program at any time; its rows are then deleted on request. Tesla owners can revoke the overlay's access in the Tesla app. Questions, access requests and deletion requests go to travis@atomicauto.com.
